Dorset to Edinburgh

Richard and Vanessa had a relaxed drive up to Bristol Airport where they met Keith and Wendy who had unfortunately had a very stressful time getting from Cornwall because of a road accident which delayed their arrival at the airport for more than an hour. Luckily the car hire company did not charge them for the extra period.
After an uneventful flight and taxi journey into the city, we arrived at the Macdonald Holyrood hotel which is at the lower end of the Royal Mile, adjacent to Holyrood Palace, the Scottish Parliament Building and Arthur’s Seat. We spent the evening walking up the Royal Mile to the castle, taking in views of Princes Street, the gardens and the Scott Monument and over towards Calton Hill and Leith. We had a good meal, live music included, at The Mitre pub. There were a lot of people about, probably mainly tourists, enjoying the warm summer’s evening.
